Boy of the Painted Cave

The novel Boy of the Painted Cave by Justin Denzel has 158 pages of non-stop law breaking action and adventure. Tao, the main character, has the dream of becoming a Cave Painter, or Chosen One. It is nearly impossible since he was not born the so of a leader or shaman. But, he was "blessed" with a bad foot. For Tao to become a Cave Painter is proven possible when he meets Graybeard, the old shaman for all the clans. Graybeard showed Tao how to become a better artist and then to chose him to the new Cave Painter before he died. When Tao is then believed to have killed the shaman he is forced to face "Saxon", the sacred bull. After he proves that his word is true by defeating "Saxon," Tao becomes the new Cave Painter.

The Secret Cavern is a very important setting to the plot of the book. Without it there would be no stable plot. The Secret Cavern is where Tao had the dream of painting. That he can't paint there is the main problem in the story. Tao beat "Saxon" and then became a Chosen One after he went into the Secret Cavern. So without the Secret Cavern there would be no real plot in the story.
